How to turn a Bare Room Into your Dream Room

Many of you might already know from my Instagram. Last year I moved into my dream home with my Hubby, A six-bedroom house with a formal living room, Dining room, and a family den plus a finished basement. We got our home for a steal compared to our neighbors and the community when we moved. The downside is the home needed a lot of updating.

While I finally found our perfect home, we had a lot of work and money to spend. So, the first room we started to update was the den. That is the room we will be spending most of our time and entertaining the most. Look, we have a wet bar in our family room. How cool is that? I started my search to make this room fabulous and functional. The best time to purchase new furniture is the banking holidays. I mean that Christmas, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day 4th of July. You will see commercial and online sales for major home appliances and furniture. We moved into our home in the middle of September, and I instantly started looking for home décor, But the first thing I did was write down a must-have list together. If you decide to do a home renovation or update a space, I will show you how to create a gathering space you will embrace now and for years to come.

Fill dead wall space rather than letting it go empty. It is nearly always best to pull the furniture off the walls in a large area, creating cozy arrangements closer to the center of the space. The trouble is that this can leave a great deal of wall space bare — do not let it waste! For example, I had an awkward length on my wall leading to the garbage. I placed a nice bench/ additional sitting, but it was missing something, so I was shopping at Home Goods one day and found this fantastic picture frame that I added to the blank wall. The color scheme brought all my colors together. Mix Up Your Textures Using the same one or two textures throughout your living room is a foolproof way to make a space look flat and dull. Instead, mix a variety of surfaces in your upholstery, decorative pillows, throws, and drapery for a more dynamic, elevated look. Use pillows of different sizes for a more dimensional look, and This is what I did for our family room. I used bold, bright colors and added colors that would match my Wood Bar and Ceiling Beams.

Everyone thought I was crazy to color the wall a blue color. My family was saying Blue doesn’t fit with orange and tan. All I had to say was, watch me. I love mixing colors and textures and bringing them together for a bold statement. You don’t need to hire a florist to give your home photo-shoot-worthy appeal. A modest $15 grocery store bouquet will provide your space with instant classiness and create a warm, welcoming vibe. Toss a few small arrangements with a single type of stem throughout your room for an improved look. Throw pillows, an area rug, and large graphic wall art add color and life to a room.

Finding the perfect sofa, my goal for my room was to configure a sectional with a longer side and a shorter side to fit the wall lengths. So, I found that the

U-shaped sectional

was perfect for my room, left enough floor space for the accent chairs and ottomans. My barstools I have placed at the bar. In addition to the sofa, the

Solid Wood Drum Coffee Table

was a special buy for me, this round shape coffee table is made from mango wood. It features a smooth wide top that can be used for serving and various decorative purposes. This short height coffee table has a narrow flat base that provides good stability on the ground.

A family room should have several uses. First, create a second seating area or reading corner. Even after filling out the central seating arrangement, there will likely be an unusual corner that remains empty in a large living room—putting as much effort into this corner as into the “main” seating area may become your favorite hangout spot.

This area of the room has become my beloved spot, and I added two

Swivel Barrel Chairs

to the room. It’s a nice cozy spot in the wintertime, I get to sit by the fire, and It’s great for the spring I get to drink my tea and look out the window and see the rabbits playing.
