This Week in Fashion: Spring/Summer 2022
We have finally made it to Summer! It is the time of the year to show off your body, tan, and let your hair down. The Summer is the season to show off in your best summer outfit, sandals, and accessories. This week’s segment showcase what is trending for the Summer of 2022. What is trending and seen on the streets, runway, in movies, and magazines.
The fashion trends for Summer 2022 are bold colors, retro miniskirts, a play on platforms, Y2K fashion, and prints everywhere. This season is huge on retro style. The popular textures for the season are knits, sheer fabric, and netting for layering.
Boho styles are also big this Summer. The colors are bright and bold. However, this Summer’s theme is “distress,” knit seen on the runway by Rick Owen, KNWLS, and Stella McCartney. The late 90’s early 2000 are back a la Destiny Child.
This style is seen on the runway by designers such as Miu Miu, Blumarine, and Balmain. This style includes low-waist pants, skirts, Kangol hats, halters, and anything Juicy Couture or Baby Phat.
This Summer, Platforms is taking a spin on a cross between 70’s Disco Divas and Earth boots. The trendy Versace La Medusa leather plateau sandal and the Moschino metallic disco platform sandals. Also, very popular this Summer is the micro mini’, which can be seen on the runway by designers such as Versace and Courrèges.
Lastly, there were several types of leather motorcycle “moto” jackets cropped at the waist by designer Alexander McQueen, billowing sleeves at the Simone Rocha show, and distress leather, as seen at Prada.
